After five years of Indian Rhino bachelor’s holding, at the beginning of April Wroclaw Zoo (PL) became officially a breeding facility.

In fact, the zoo received from Touroparc (FR) a female rhino called Maruska: she was born in Pilzen (CZ) in 2014 and spent her last two years of life in France with another male and another female. She was then transferred in Wroclaw to be paired with Manas, an older male that has resided there since 2012.

It is not known why Maruska was moved from France even if she was there with a mature male; anyway she’s now a good match for the Wroclaw rhino: it is hoped for them to become parents in the near future.
