On Sunday 20 January 2019 Eastern Black Rhino Bashira delighted Ebeltoft Ree Safari Parks’s Keepers (DK) with her third calf. The baby is a male, has not received a name yet, but it is healthy and thriving.

Bashira and Thabo had two calves before, the very first is male Mandela, who know lives in Czech Republic where he is waiting for an important journey: he will be transferred to Rwanda in Summer this year. The second one was a female, called Shaya, that was born in Summer 2017 but tragically died few months after, probably for the consequences of a blow.

According to the Zoo Official Press Release, the EEP of the Eastern Black Rhino is very pleased to have a new male, since the European metapopulation is in need of males.
