Bursa Zoo located in Turkey received at the end of May 2018 two rhino brothers from Austria: Tayo and Amadou. We reported that another Southern White Rhino bull was supposed to be transferred with them, but no news leaked out since now. Zoo de Beauval (FR) confirmed that its young rhino Hawii was transferred to Bursa Zoo. This new rhino holder has now three young White Rhinos that form a bachelor herd, an important moment for the development of a future rhino bull.

Zoo Magdeburg (DE) is now home again to four Eastern Black Rhinos: in June 2018 the Zoo welcomed a female from Berlin (DE), Kumi. The rhino lady has spent few times behind the scenes to familiarize with the new environment and she will be gradually introduced to the other three residents: female Mana, her daughter Malaika and the rhino bull Madiba. The aim is that Kumi and Madiba could became a succesfull breeding pair in the future. Zoo Berlin (DE) has recently moved two of its Eastern Black Rhino residents: before Kumi, even the bull Jasper was transferred to England this year. With the sadly passed of Ine at the beginning of the year, Zoo Berlin has now only two Rhinos: Kilaguni and the pregnant lady Maburi. According to a sources the Zoo is renewing its rhino habitat since the buildings were very old. We do hope that, once finished the reconstructions, the Facility will again received new rhinos to continue the long tradition in breeding this magnificent creatures.

CERZA Parc des Safaris, in Lisieux (FR), received in May 2018 two Southern White Rhinos from Safari Zoo in Dalton-in-Furness (UK): they are Manzi and her 18 months old daughter Mosi. The two females reaches three other Rhinos that resides there, a male called Chris and two females called Beth and Sutu. The old female Rosie died few months ago, so the Facility has now a crash of five Rhinoceros. And a fantastic news leaked out during the announcement: the Rhino Beth, who arrived from England at the beginning of 2016, is pregnant! She should give birth to her fisrt calf at the end of the year. This gorgeous news confirmed the fantastic work done by the EEP coordinator: since Beth was not able to cycle in her previous home due to an environmental cause, it was decided to move her in a new Facility. It took only few months for Beth to cycle again and only one year and half for her to became pregnant. That’s is definently a huge success fro the European Southern White Rhino Breeding program!
