Southern White Rhinos mom Duma and dad Samson welcomed on 7 May 2018 their third baby, again a male: the baby has been named Malabar, which celebrates its 70 kg weight!

Malabar is the third rhino born in the last six years at Peaugres (FR). The zoo hosts other three females: while Tomby is too old to breed, Malia and Kara are mature enough to have babies, but unfortunately it seems that Duma is dominant over them and suppresses their cycle. We are confident that the EEP coordinators and the zoo staff are working together to modify the situation and have both the females pregnant in the near future.
