One of the very first move of Spring 2020 took place in Texas with destination Georgia.
Southern White Rhino Mumbles, just turned 9 years old, waved goodbye to his Houston bachelor group composed by his two half-brothers, George and Indy, and left for a new home: Atlanta Zoo.
He arrived safely in Georgia on 20 May 2020 and he is still behind the scenes: he will be visible in few week, after a good period of adaptation.
For Atlanta Zoo, Mumbles is the first White Rhino to be hosted. The Zoo ended Black Rhino keeping in 2017, when a young female, Andazi, left for Arkansas.
Mumbles is almost fully grown and mature, by his former Keepers he is described as an easygoing fellow who loves his belly and legs to be scratched.
Atlanta Zoo didn’t not release any other information about other Rhinos to come. It only released a “cryptically” sentence to someone who asked about new arrival: they are working on the SSP.
Meanwhile, Mumbles is well and is enjoying his new habitat!
