WE have a fantastic news from Japan: a new baby Rhino was born, testifying the success our Japanese friends are obtaining from their really small meta-population of Eastern Black Rhinos!

Here it is what our gorgeous Teammate Yuko, from Japan, has written about the new birth!

On 5 February 2019 , at Yagiyama Zoo in Sendai, Japan, 7-year-old Eastern Black Rhino Yuki gave birth to a female calf. She is the first baby for Mom Yuki and 14-year-old Dad Earth and it is the first birth of Black Rhino at the zoo in Sendai ,too.
She was named Ran which means a gorgeous “Orchid” in Japanese,  and the sound of Ran evokes “run” in English for Japanese people.
In fact, Little Ran runs lively well.
Her weight at birth was 51kg, and now she has grown to over 100kg.
Here are some pictures and videos about baby Ran!

Yuko is going to visit Yuki and baby Ran in May this year. Hopefully, Yuko will send us more pictures of both of them!
