We are really over the moon for this news! A few days ago (~13 December) four White Rhinos coming from Ramat Gan Safari Park (IL), which holds one of the biggest breeding crash of the whole EEP (the European breeding program for rhinos), arrived in Zurich (CH).

They are one adult female, Tanda, her oldest daughter, Teshi, her youngest one Thelathini/Thalatini and a young male, who is almost 3 years old, called Rami (half-brother of both the younger females). It’s a very important transfer because it brought on European field four rhinos with a precious genetic heritage that would have been otherwise “stuck” in Israel. It’s very likely that, even if Zurich will open a new wing named Lewa Savannah where this rhinos will live for quite some time, this transfer will only be the beginning to distribute the three youngster or even Tanda in other European zoos in the future. At the moment, anyway, we’ll just enjoy this news and will wait to see the rhinos in the facility next year in April.
