We are really happy to report that a Southern White Rhino female calf was born on Monday 2 July 2018 in North Carolina Zoo, the first one after 41 years!

The baby weighted between 35 and 40 kg and her name will be announced in the next months. She is the sixth (known) calf for mum Linda and the very first one for dad Stormy, that arrived in North Carolina from Texas in 2014.

The Facility completed the expansion for the Rhino habitat in 2008 which was planned for a breeding herd. Now, the Zoo host a crash composed, along with the calf and her parents, by Natalie and Linda’s previous daughters Kit and Abigail. There are two other Southern White Rhinos called Olivia and Stan, older than the other that live “in an off-viewing retirement habitat”.
