In the early hours of wednesday 10 May 2017 Eastern Black Rhino Dakima left her native place, Chester (UK), to reach a new home where it is hope for her to have calves in the future.

In the new home, Folly Farm (UK), Dakima will meet two other rhinos, male Nkosi and female Manyara.

Dakima means “joy of living” in Swahili and she was born in 2013 to first-time mum Malindi.

Folly Farm Officials mentioned the possibility that the future calf could be released in the wild, once he/she will be grown and strong enough. Till then, we’ll wait to see if Dakima and Nkosi could get along well.

Finger crossed!
