As the Official post on the Facebook page reported ” Santa Claus arrived early” and brought a beautiful and healthy baby Southern White Rhino at the Zoo La-Boissière-du-Doré (FR)!

Mum Hacuna, extimated 13 years old, and dad Max, just turned 12 years old, welcomed their second calf together on 4 December 2018! And great joy follows as the baby is a female, one of only 5 born this year in the European Southern White Rhino Breeding Program.

The little lady has not a name yet, but Keepers are at work in order to provide a list of suitable names for the new arrival. The name should be choosen by public next week.

The Facility welcomed another baby rhino in September this year, a male called Wakati that was born to the other female rhino, Swanie.
