The journey was long: Eastern Black Rhino breeding pair Zuri and Ruka left Oregon Zoo, located in the state of Oregon, and reached Kansas City Zoo, in Missouri, in early April 2018. This move took us by surprise: probably Oregon Zoo is going to renew the exhibits and hopefully will host again Rhinos in the future. If any of our readers knows more about this please contact us through our Facebook page or our email.

The two Rhinos are now on exhibit in their new habitat. Kansas City Zoo will rotate the exhibit with another male that resides there, affectionately known as Riki. The breeding pair and this male will not be on exhibit together: this means that Riki is not going to be used as a sire in the near future.

Kansas City  Zoo is also home to a female young Eastern Black Rhino, Imara. This young lady has a skin problem that makes hard for her stay in the open space. The zoo confirmed that Imara’s mom Luyisa, as we feared, passed away.
