A great news for Tampa’s Lowry Park: a baby white rhinoceros has been welcomed!

Mother Alake marked the sixth successful birth in the zoo’s history giving birth to a calf last week on 12 September: it was her second baby, again with father Ongava.

Lucky visitors may be able to see the little one on the Zoo’s safari tram ride.

The zoo also hosts other two potential breeding females: Fujo and Kidogo, but only the last one has proved to be a breeding female. It would be auspicable that also Fujo could give birth in the future; otherwise it would be better to move her to another facility in order to let her express her genetics. We hope that zoo will work in that direction, otherwise her potential could be wasted.

Also Kidogo had a calf called Khari in 2013, but he is not in the facility anymore: does anyone knows where is he know? If you happen please contact us through our social pages.
