A baby Indian Rhino was born on 8 September! The calf is a male and he’s doing very well. He is the first surviving calf for mum Seto (her full name is Seto Paitala), born 11 years ago in Nurnberg (DE), and dad Rap, 13 years old.

The pair welcomed an healthy calf after 5 years of cohabitation in West Midland Safari Park, located in Bewdley (UK). The boy has not yet received a name, but it’s said to be bonding off exhibit with his mum, which is very important. According to Official releases from the Zoo, his name will begin with the letter “I”, as do all the babies born this year at the Facility.

The baby’s grandmother is Beluki, who is a female born in the wild, imported in 1997 in Europe, so he has a great importance in term of genetics. Dad Rap, before meeting his mate Seto, has spent some years with another female, Sophie, in West Midland Safari Park. Things didn’t work out between the two, that were destinated to different partners, and have then be successfull in having calves!
