Rolling Hills Zoo (Kansas, USA) mournes the loss of the female white rhinoceros Milly.

Milly, one of Rolling Hills Zoo (Kansas, USA) southern white rhinoceros, had to be euthanized on Wednesday, 14 June 2017, due to declining health and her advanced age.

Zoo curators said that she was been cared for her advanced age, but she found very difficult to stand up for long periods of time.

Milly and Wagasa arrived at Rolling Hills Zoo together as part of the White Rhinoceros Species Survival Plan. She was then transferred in 1996 to Rolling Hills Zoo, on loan from the Knoxville Zoo, where she spent the second half of her life in the Zoo’s new rhino barn. Milly was estimated to be between 46 – 51 years of age and has well exceeded the average rhino lifespan.

Keepers of the zoo says that she was very bond to Wagasa, looking frequently out for her. She was playful and spunky, liking more attention than food.
