The Wilds, located in Ohio, has recently said goodbye to other two of its residents.
The first one to leave was Southern White Rhino Letterman. The 3 and half years old bull was transferred at the beginning of April to Kentucky. Time for him was mature since the young boy’s mum, Anan, has had her new daughter Faith in October last year.
Letterman has now completed his quarantine at the Louisville Zoo and he is ready to meet 34-year-old female Sindi. The pair, which is not going to be a breeding one since the lady is too old, has to be carefully monitored for any aggressive behaviour.
The second one was Indian Rhino boy Aashish, 3 and half years old as well. He was transferred to Toledo Zoo, in Ohio, on Thursday 17 May 2018. Toledo Zoo has been without a rhino since the death of its lonely male Southern White Rhino, Sam, in October last year. At the moment, it is not clear if Aashish is going to have a female companion in the next future: no plans have been developed yet. The Zoo changes the species of rhino, switching from the African White to the Indian one. What do you thing of this change? Let us know trhough our email or Facebook page!

After years of planning, Chahinkapa Zoo, in North Dakota, has received its first ever Southern White Rhinos. The two males arrived during the early morning of Monday 14 May 2018, a little bit later than expected because one Rhino had some problem with is horn and it had to be cut.
These Rhino are 3 and half years old and were born at the Center for the Conservation of Tropical Ungulates in Florida from African parents. The Facility will announce the Rhinos personal names in the near future and will hold these two young males till they will be 13-14 years old, ready to start a family on their own.
