Monica is an Indian Rhino born back in June 2014 to mom Tashi, in Buffalo Zoo. Her birth was heralded as a huge scientific achievement: she was born,infact, via artificial insemination. Her father, a male who never contributed to the genetics, Jimmy, died in Cincinnati (Ohio,USA) in 2004. Zoo officials used frozen semen from him.

Monica is now old enough to travel from Buffalo Zoo (New York, USA) to San Diego Zoo Safari Park (California, USA), home to the largest group of Indian rhinos in captivity, with a great success in breeding!
