There are big changes and mooves in Fresno Chaffee Zoo (California, USA). The Facility has just welcomed the very first pair of Indian Rhinos in its history.

The two young males will occupy the former Elephant exhibit and will live together for some years to come.

The younger one is called Maza, a name that in Hindi means “fun”. He was born on 18 July 2015 at the Center for Conservation of Tropical Ungulates in Florida. He arrived at Fresno Chaffee Zoo on 27 September 2017.

The older one is called Chutti. He was born in San Diego Zoo Safari Park (California, USA) on 27 November 2014 to Kaya, a first time mum, and Bhopu. Mum Kaya showed perfect maternal behaviour but the calf, after two weeks of life, wasn’t gaining enough weight. Keepers stepped in and hand-raised the baby male calf till his weaning. Chutti arrived at Fresno Chaffee Zoo two days earlier than Maza, on 25 September 2017.
