Great joy from Cincinnati (Ohio,USA) when on 17 July 2017 Eastern Black Rhino Seyia, 8 years old, has successfully given birth to a healthy calf. According to Zoo Officials, the labour lasted 30 minutes and the baby softly landed on straw.

Proud dad is male Faru.

The baby has already got a name: it is Kendi, which means ” the loved one”. The sex of the calf is still not confirmed. According to our experience and knowledge we presume that he is a male, but we are still waiting for a confirmation from the Facility.

Kendi is the first Black Rhino born in the Cincinnati since 1999!

Both baby Kendi and mum Seyia are off-show, spending precious time together.
