With great joy we share the news about a Southern White Rhino birth in UK.

On Friday 8 September 2017, at 17 23, in Bewdley (West Midland Safari Park), first-time mum Keyah, born in Lisieux (FR) on October 2008, gave birth to a perfect and lively calf. The baby is a female and was born after 18 months half-brother Ekozu‘s birth.

The labour was rapid and after one hour the baby was on her feet, suckling from Mum in the next few hours.

Keepers visited the little girl after 30 hours of birth and her weight hit 70 kg!

The calf, whose dad is bull Barnold, 12 years old, has not received a name yet, but since the Zoo follows alphabetic order for the names, the baby’s name should start with the letter “F”.
