At Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Bakhita’s calf is flourishing. The little Southern Black Rhino is now three months old and needs a name. Since he was born on 31 October 2017,Zoo Officials announced that his name will be a sort of mix between African language and something that could remember Halloween. And here it is: Pampoen, which means “pumpkin” in Afrikaans.

In Rotterdam, the Eastern Black Rhino calf is venturing outside, with proud Mum by her side. Zoo asked fans to guess the name that Keepers chose for her, giving few advice – for examples, that the name is on the Tanzania map.
Finally, Keepers revealed the name: it is Mara, in honor of one of the Regions the country is divided.
