On 11 October 2016 Black Rhino couple Ayana and Kyano (both 6 years old, very young!) welcome their first newborn, a female! She is also the first baby Black Rhino born in Blank Park, Iowa, ever.

The baby has not a name yet and she will spend some time with mum off-exhibit, in order to strenghten their bond.

The delivery went smoothly, as Zoo Officials said, and first time mum Ayana did perfectly all by herself. Ayana came to Blank Park back in 2012 from MetroZoo Miami. She was the second child for experience mother Circe, who last gave birth in 2014 to another female, Arya. There is also another sister for Ayana, Andazi, who lives in Atlanta.

Proud dad is male Kyano. He was born in 2010 as second child for Black Rhino couple Imara and Jubba, from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Kyano has an older sister, Kapuki, born in 2005, and a younger brother, who was born just one month prior of his “nephew”, on 12 September 2016!

Congratulations to Blank Park Zoo Staff!
