Today we’d like to remember another Rhino that stole a lot of hearts during his life.

Eastern Black Rhino bull Jimma was born on 29 November 1990 in San Diego – WAP (California, USA). He was one of Cornelius’s sons, one of the most prolific Eastern Black Rhino bull in North America. His mum was Judy, a prolific cow that unfortunately had some problems in rearing two of her youngest calves, Jomo and Jambia (both of them are alive nowadays, thanks to Keepers efforts; you can read their personal story here ) .

After spending his first 4 years of life in California, Jimma was then transferred to Potter Park (Michigan, USA) where resided till 2005. He was then transferred to Cleveland (Ohio,USA) where he was able to win not one but two ladies’s hearts: Inge and her daughter Kibibbi gave birth to three Jimma’s calves.

In 2012 it was decided to move Jimma again. On 17 May  2012 Jimma arrived in Chicago Brookfield (Illinois, USA) where spent his last months of life. He died there on 5 November 2013.

Jimma was not often on exhibit in Chicago Brookfield, but he would made a cameo on a popular TV show, called “Hot in Cleveland”. He starred on the episodes “Two Girls and a Rhino” as the rhino Moses!
