On Wednesday 18 January 2017 Indian Rhino Tanaya led her 10-week-old baby, Taj, into the Asian Plains exhibit.

Taj means “jewel” or “crown” in Hindi and was born on 10 November 2016.

He and his mum, 10 years old Tanaya, spent the past weeks in a boma, where they stayed separated from the other Indian Rhinos in order to bond properly.

Taj will interact soon with the other female rhinos, including his 3-year-old sister Petunia.

Taj’s dad is Bhopu.
