Rai, male black rhino aged 5 was transferred from Tobe Zoo in Ehime (JP),where he was born, to Tennoji Zoo in Osaka (JP) on 29 February 2016.

His mother Coo was not pregnant at that time, but maybe will be in next months!

Rai is supposed to be the future partner of Samia, 3 years old, who traveled from Germany in 2015.

Moreover, Tennoji Zoo holds the oldest male black rhino in Japan: Tommy (Thomy) that was born at Asa Zoo in 1982.

At first, Rai was very nervous at Tennoji Zoo, but then he gradually calmed down. The Vet could gather blood from him for the first time in June, as you can see here .
