On 15 April 2017 Dvur Kralove (CZ) announced that its baby rhino female, born to Jola and Mweru in October 2016 has finally been named.

The “naming contest” involved 1,600 voters, according to the Zoo; the jury was composed by the Zoo and its partner, ČSOB, representatives.

The winning name is Jasiri Perla and, as tradition, starts with the same name as mother Jola’s one. “Jasiri” is a Swahili word that means “brave”, an omage to the little girl first weeks of life. The baby, as you recall, was born too tiny and small, she couldn’t even reach her mum’s breast: she had to be feed by Keepers for a while, untill she was grown enough to suck by herself.
